Frequently Asked Questions
What is Holistic Health Trina's approach to nutrition?
Trina takes a personalized, evidence-informed approach to nutrition. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all diet, she considers your health history, lifestyle, goals, current concerns, and available health information to create practical recommendations tailored to you.
What is Live Blood Analysis?
Live Blood Cell Analysis is a process that involves using a high-resolution dark field microscope to examine your blood in real-time. With just a small drop of blood, taken with a simple finger prick, you can see your red and white blood cells and the plasma (the fluid that transports cells and nutrients) live on a monitor.
The analysis provides a detailed look at how your blood functions, offering insights into your overall health. Blood is essential for delivering oxygen and nutrients to your body while removing waste. When viewed under the microscope, we can observe how well your blood performs these crucial tasks.
This analysis can uncover possible imbalances or areas of concern by examining the blood’s condition, helping you understand the current state of your health. You’ll gain insights into the nutrients, enzymes, and other factors influencing your body’s ability to adapt and regenerate. When these resources are lacking, the body’s ability to maintain balance may be compromised.
Live Blood Analysis helps uncover these issues early so you can take proactive steps toward restoring balance and optimizing your health.

How is Trina's approach different from a standard nutrition plan?
Rather than starting with a generic diet, Trina begins by understanding the individual. Depending on the service, this can include your health profile, lifestyle, goals, and available health information. The goal is to create a practical plan designed to support sustainable habits and measurable progress.
What do I need before my first visit?
What happens during an initial consultation?
Your initial appointment will be about 1-2 hours long. The blood sample is taken from a simple finger poke. One drop of blood is collected and suspended between two slides so the components of the blood remain viable and alive.
The finger is wiped and a second drop of blood is taken on another slide. This sample is exposed to air which allows the blood to dry and be reviewed after the live analysis.
Once the sample is collected the blood is shown on a monitor and reviewed together. Trina will discuss what she observes and answer any questions you may have.
Based on the findings, Trina will then provide various recommendations to optimize your health and wellbeing (such as lifestyle choices, nutritional changes, supplements, exercise and other strategies) to support you on your path to wellness.
Can you help with athletic performance and recovery?
Yes. Trina offers personalized nutrition strategies designed to support strength, endurance, recovery, body composition, and overall performance. Plans can also include fueling strategies, recovery nutrition, hydration planning, and ongoing coaching and accountability.
Is your approach focused on restrictive diets?
How do I know which service or program is right for me?
Are your services covered by insurance?
Coverage depends on your individual insurance policy. Most extended health plans or health spending accounts may reimburse eligible nutrition services, laboratory testing, or other health expenses.
A detailed receipt can be provided; however, coverage cannot be guaranteed. If reimbursement is important to you, contact your insurance provider before booking to confirm the requirements of your plan.
Why don’t all doctors use Live Blood Analysis?
LBA is not a diagnostic test – it can’t be used to diagnose medical conditions. Although it can help to narrow down the conventional tests needed to make a diagnosis in some cases, it is mostly of very little value in a conventional medical practice, where the focus is on disease diagnosis and management.
The imbalances detected with LBA are valuable in disease prevention, and LBA is valued by health practitioners who work in the fields of natural, functional and integrative medicine. In these fields many leading Drs already use LBA to help them formulate effective treatment protocols for their patients.
Are appointments available virtually?
Yes! Nutrition consultations, coaching, and follow-up appointments are available virtually. Live Blood Analysis must be completed in person because the samples are collected and viewed in the clinic.
What is the difference between traditional bloodwork and Live Blood Analysis?
Traditional bloodwork is processed in a laboratory and measures specific biomarkers such as blood sugar, cholesterol, iron, thyroid hormones, liver enzymes, and vitamin levels. It produces numerical results that can be used by your healthcare provider to diagnose or monitor medical conditions.
Live Blood Analysis provides a different perspective. A sample is viewed under a darkfield microscope in real time, allowing Trina to observe the quality, appearance, movement, absorption, and interaction of the blood cells.
The two approaches can complement each other. Traditional bloodwork shows measurable biomarker levels, while Live Blood Analysis provides a visual assessment that can help guide more personalized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations.
